History of Queensland

In 1824, Queensland started as penal colony in Redcliffe Point, as did most of the other states in the country. It didn’t last long as with the lack of fresh water and the Aboriginal residence, which was most fierce in Queensland they were forced to move to a new area, which today is Brisbane.

In 1859, Queensland and Victoria separated from New South Wales when gold was discovered. To get settles to the area the government had scheme for white settlers to move north and take whatever land they would like. This was where the aboriginals resided, but in the end most of them unfortunately where massacred and very few survived.

Today, Queensland is the most visited state in the country and its popularity is growing every year. Unfortunately, due to the ozone layer the Great Barrier Reef is also disappearing as the sun is destroying it.
