Intro into New Zealand

New Zealand is 1930km (1200 miles) southeast of Australia and consists of two major islands, the North Island and the South Island, which are separated by Cook Strait. The North Island is where most of the business and politics take place, in Auckland and Wellington respectively. The South Island is where you would go to if you like more of the outdoors. This is where you can go snowboarding; fishing, hiking, or you can just sit back and enjoy the fresh air. Many people compare the South Island to British Columbia in Canada. In Canada, this is the province where you would enjoy the same activities as you would on the south island of New Zealand. Many people also say that New Zealand is the world’s best kept secret as it contains six of the seven climatic regions on the planet, boasts a series of unparalleled golden-sand beaches, protected marine parks to explore from on or beneath the surface, safe-but-active volcanic areas, pristine snow-capped Alps to ski and climb, prehistoric forests and unique flora and fauna.

If you do go to New Zealand make sure you try and learn more about the Maori people. The Maori's are the indigenous people from this island. They have a fascinating history, which we would definitely recommend you learn more about when you are in the country. When you are in New Zealand we would recommend you go to a rugby game if you are into the sport. This is where the "All Blacks" come from and it’s the name of the New Zealand national team, which is considered to be one of the best teams in the world.
